Obsidian 1/2 is formed from solid walnut, dominated by a broad sweep of dark heartwood framed by the pale sapwood of the original live edge.
The extraordinary grain moves across the surface almost like a landscape, with knots, feathering and fine dark lines recording the natural growth of the tree.
Abyss resin is used sparingly within the natural voids and fissures. Its near-black depth sits quietly within the walnut rather than competing with it, reinforcing the darker markings already present in the timber.
Obsidian 1/2 is one of two companion pieces cut from the same walnut slab. Individually they are complete tables; together, their mirrored origins become immediately apparent.
