Obsidian 2/2 is the companion piece, formed from the same solid walnut slab and carrying the same dramatic transition from pale sapwood into richly figured heartwood.
Here the grain is tighter and more directional, flowing along the length of the piece before breaking around knots, fissures and the irregular live edge. The changing width of the sapwood gives the tabletop an organic silhouette that has been deliberately retained.
Abyss resin settles into the natural imperfections of the walnut, creating areas of deep shadow that complement rather than conceal the timber's character.
Together, Obsidian 1/2 and 2/2 reveal their shared origin. Separated, each remains a unique piece of walnut with its own form, grain and identity.
