Shadow is formed from solid walnut, arranged to create a circular composition of contrasting heartwood and pale sapwood.

Rather than allowing the timber to dictate an irregular outer form, the individual sections have been brought together within a precise 795mm circle. Their changing grain direction creates movement across the surface, while the natural variation within the walnut gives each section its own identity.

Umbra resin occupies the spaces between the timber, creating deep areas of shadow that separate and define the individual pieces without overpowering them.

The result is a compact table built around contrast — light against dark, natural grain against geometry, and individual pieces brought together as a single composition.

Shadow is a one-of-a-kind studio piece, designed as much around the spaces between the timber as the walnut itself.
