Study I — Slab-led Doors

Two naturally varied ash slabs were resolved as a single horizontal field before being cut into four doors.
Grain, colour variation, and resin infill ignore door boundaries.
Although lighter than a table, the work required comparable effort: extensive flattening, exacting cutting, and prolonged hand sanding.
In several respects, tolerances are tighter and errors less forgiving.
The result is not cabinetry in the conventional sense, but a fixed object authored as furniture.
What this is not
- A kitchen service
- A cabinetry offer
- A product range
- A component system
These studies exist to demonstrate material judgement, not availability.
On repetition
Material Studies are undertaken selectively.
Each piece responds to its specific context, dimensions, and material supply.
Repetition is neither assumed nor encouraged.
